The Global Fund is a collaborative initiative aimed at hastening the eradication of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria as global epidemics. Since its inception in 2002, the Global Fund has allocated over US$60.4 billion to combat HIV, TB, malaria, and COVID-19, as well as to bolster health systems in more than 120 countries.
Global Fund has partnered with ADS Nyanza to contribute to its goal of reducing new HIV infections by 75%, reduction of AIDS-related mortality by 50%, and HIV-related stigma and discrimination to less than 25%.
Our program specifically targets vulnerable populations, such as fisherfolk, discordant couples, PMTCT mothers, ART defaulters, and men in high-risk setting - truckers. Through combination prevention strategies, we provide comprehensive support and tailored interventions with the aim of creating a significant and sustainable impact on reducing HIV transmission and improving the lives of those affected by the virus.
Targeted, comprehensive strategies implemented in partnership with the Kenya Red Cross to halt HIV transmission and support vulnerable communities.
Prioritizing outreach for fisherfolk, discordant couples, PMTCT mothers, and men in high-risk settings to close coverage gaps.
Delivering tailored interventions—combining biomedical, behavioral, and structural strategies—to significantly reduce new infections.
Emphasis on Human Rights and Gender Equality to ensure safe, non-judgmental access to vital health services for all.
The Global Fund partnership with ADS Nyanza focuses on addressing HIV infections within Homa Bay County, Kenya — one of the regions most affected by HIV. Through this collaboration, we deliver lifesaving prevention, treatment, and awareness programs at the community level.
Working closely with the Kenya Red Cross Society – Kenya and county health structures, our outreach efforts target vulnerable groups such as fisherfolk, discordant couples, PMTCT mothers, ART defaulters, and men in high-risk settings. Together, we are strengthening health systems and building resilient communities.
In a landmark commemoration in Mbita, ADS Nyanza joined the Homa Bay County Government to celebrate a profound victory for public health and family resilience.
The highlight of the day was the Infant Graduation Ceremony, where more than 200 HIV-exposed infants were officially declared HIV-negative. This milestone represents the culmination of a rigorous 23-month journey of consistent clinical care, nutritional support, and unwavering monitoring.
"This success is a testament to the 'Global Fund'—the tireless dedication of PMTCT mothers, the guidance of Mentor Mothers, and the collaborative spirit of the Ministry of Health and ADS Nyanza teams."
By eliminating mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), we aren't just hitting a target; we are safeguarding the future of the Nyanza region. Together, we are proving that an HIV-free generation is not just a goal—it is becoming our reality.
Striving for change, one step at a time. The ADS Nyanza team proudly joined thousands of advocates at the World AIDS Day 2025 Half Marathon in Nairobi.
Our participation was more than just a race; it was a vibrant declaration of unity. By taking to the streets of the capital, our staff helped amplify the global call to end the HIV epidemic, turning every kilometer into a message of hope and resilience.
Every stride we take represents our commitment to advocacy, awareness, and the pursuit of a future free from the burden of AIDS.
Whether in the field at Homa Bay or on the tracks in Nairobi, ADS Nyanza remains dedicated to championing the health and dignity of our communities. We run for those we serve, and we run for the generations to come.
